About MUNDUS VINI

MUNDUS VINI was founded by Meininger Verlag and has been one of the most important wine competitions in the world over 25 years.

The more than 11,000 wines entered every year clearly demonstrate that the significance of the competition extends well beyond Germany.

Wineries can compare the results of their own efforts in a competitive international environment.

The international jury consists of highly respected professionals: winemakers, wine merchants, sommeliers and wine journalists. Qualified judges taste the wines in “ blind “ tasting rounds.

The wines are rated according to the 100-point scale of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), which is recognised by the Union Internationale des Oenologues (UIOE) as well.

MUNDUS VINI competitions are held twice a year.

A summer tasting in August links up with the autumn fairs and year-end business of Holiday Season. A spring tasting is held in February before one of the world’s largest wine trade fairs, ProWein in Düsseldorf.

The Jammertal Wine Estate has an excellent track record at MUNDUS VINI.

Over the years, we received 6 gold medals and 2 “Best of Show Hungary” awards.

This year at Spring Tasting 2021 we were given our seventh gold medal. A big red of 2012 vintage, Koh-I-Noor 105.6 achieved a score of 91 points at the competition where no wine has yet received a score of 100.

2 ‘ 534 samples entered in our category. We made it to the top 1%.

Jammertal Wine Estate

Jammertal Wine Estate ( https://jbb.hu/en/ ) was established in 2001. Our estate has become one of Central Europe’s most important red wine producing workshops.

We are located at the foothills of Jammertal ( named by events of Nagyharsány Battle in 1687 ), Villány.

Villány is the southernmost wine region of Hungary. Protected from the northern cold winds by small hills this area has a unique Sub-Mediterranean microclimate. Hot summers and long dry falls provide for excellent black grape production.

The fortunate characteristics and world – class terroir of Villány Wine Region enable us to produce the highest quality of full-bodied red wines from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grape varieties on 85 hectares.

Our winery use state-of-art technology combined with a long lasting winemaking tradition of our region.

KOH
I – NOOR 105.6 Vintage 2012

Midnight black with aromas of berries and cassis explode from the glass. A strong wine of balance and harmony, with a long intense finish filled with perfectly ripe black and blue fruits.

Instead of describing the wine we would prefer letting its name speak for itself: the weight of the Koh-I-Noor diamond is 105.6 carats…
